Fic: One Last Look
Title: One Last Look
Fandom: BtVS
Rating: PG
Character: Angel

Summary: After that episode when Angel fights with Riley, Angel takes one last look before leaving town.
Concrit: Please, in Comments
Disclaimer: They aren’t mine, not yet, but they will be… once I’ve taken over the world. Bwah-ha-ha!
Word Count: 100

Note: Written for a prompt at Open on Sunday: egg/cross
Note: I'm not sure if this tracks exactly with canon. *crosses fingers* and hey! I just worked in the cross prompt as well!  Ha ha.
Query: I left it in because it's the prompt, but I'm not sure the “egg on his face” bit works completely. What do you think?

Angel pulled over at the top of the hill. Her rejection still felt like egg on his face, but he couldn't resist one last look.

Riley Finn. Not his fault, none of it his fault, but damn him anyway. What should have been forever had become, to her, nothing more than a flash in the pan, over and done with, better forgotten. Well, two could play at that game. He was done. Let Sunnydale have her.

Leaning against the car, Angel slid to the ground. He couldn't drive off, not yet, not while his eyes were still blinded by tears.

Apparently it means to be embarrased or feel stupid, which wasn't quite what I was going for.

Oh thanks. I'm glad Angel seems dead on. I wasn't quite sure about that either.

Excellent look at Angel's feelings here.

Thank you. I wasn't sure how well I'd gotten Angel down. Great to hear a positive review from the expert! *cheeky grin*

Yeah it works. He always came off a bit too sure he was right so when he isn't its egg time.:D

This is Angel. He wants to do the 'right' thing, the big gesture and let Buffy have a 'normal' life, but the little boy in him would just break that she could get over him.

He always came off a bit too sure he was right. Maybe that's why I'm annoyed by Angel. That "I'm always right" trait is one that drives me up the wall.

Oooh, and I do like the distinction between the big gesture and little boy versions of Angel. Thanks!

Great job! Love your showing Buffy's true carelessness, and poor Angel!

She really isn't all that thoughtful. Poor Angel, indeed.

No, she's definitely not, -- but I will resist the urge to bash her here. I will. I will. I will. I'll just say that I never once watched the show for her but rather for those around her.

He puts on a brave front when he walks away from that encounter, but oh, the pain he must feel.

And now you've shown it.

Nice to hear I got it right. Thanks

You're the third person who's written bitter B/A in blogs I frequent this week. And while I love, love bitter B/A (because, hello, doesn't get any better that this pair of star-crossed lovers), I'm feeling the need for a happy ending.

*pokes Musey*

Thanks for a good Angel intro. :)

Sorry, didn't mean to bring you down. I can't recall exactly what made me go in a bittersweet direction.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it even if it is sad.

Oh, don't be sorry. I need to be pushed more often into writing happy B/A. :D They're cute when they let themselves be, and I always love visiting them in their good times.

so... I guess I mean thank you for tipping the scales. :D
